About the Work

Robert Daniels has a BA in Studio Arts from Wesleyan University and an MFA in Painting from the Columbia University School of the Arts. He currently resides in New York City.

Robert’s landscapes were inspired by the often stark and utilitarian highway overpasses of North America. His abstract works draw on the artist’s subconscious, exploring the connection between the physical quality of the materials used and the colors and shapes that happen to come to mind during the action of painting.

What ties all these works together is the process of discovery through painting. While considerable planning goes into the composition beforehand, the medium is not entirely within the artist’s control. On a good day, the artist recognizes the difference between a mistake and a revelation.
